Privacy policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Camena is made by The Bell Club LLC, doing business as Camena Invites (“Camena,” “we,” “us”). It includes Camena Letters, for writing and sending a newsletter, and Camena Invites, for polls, invites, RSVPs and the details around a get-together. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it and the choices you have. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use advertising trackers.
What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider). If you turn on two-step sign-in, a link to your authenticator app. We also note which Camena products you use.
In Camena Invites, from hosts. The plans you create: titles, dates, places and addresses, poll options, invite wording, notes for guests (such as parking or what to bring), chip-in amounts and the payment handles you choose to show (such as a Venmo username), gift lists, questions, sign-up lists and posts. If you add guests, the names and email addresses you give us for them.
In Camena Invites, from guests. Your name, your answers (votes, RSVP, how many are coming, any note to the host), your email if you give it or the host added it, answers to the host’s questions, sign-ups, gift claims, board posts, whether you’ve marked a chip-in as paid, and replies you send to an invite email.
In Camena Letters, from creators. Your profile and newsletter settings, what you write and upload (text, photos, links and voice recordings), your sending domain settings and, if you pay for a plan, billing details handled by our payment processor (we don’t store card numbers).
In Camena Letters, about subscribers. Each subscriber’s email address and subscription status, and whether they opened an issue or clicked a link in it, so the creator can see how the newsletter is doing.
The Camena Letters waitlist. If you join it at withcamena.com/letters, your email address, so we can tell you when Camena Letters opens. We don’t use it for anything else.
When you use Camena. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in; Invites also sets a cookie for each event you RSVP to, so it remembers you on that device. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and troubleshooting. When someone taps a shopping or gift link, we count the tap for that event and store, without recording who tapped.
How Camena Invites is used. To see what works and fix what doesn’t, Invites records which screens are opened and key steps taken (such as creating a plan, voting or sending an RSVP), tied to a random visit ID kept in a cookie that ends when you close your browser. For hosts this is linked to their account; for guests it’s linked only to the event, never to their name or email address. When something breaks, we keep a record of the error, with email addresses and private links removed. This stays in our own database; we don’t use outside analytics or advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To run Camena: show your plans and newsletters, send the emails you ask us to send (invites, reminders, newsletters), and relay replies to the right person.
- To keep accounts and Camena secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix problems.
- To add helpful details, such as directions and a weather forecast for an event’s address, or a preview for a link a creator pastes.
- To help creators write: when a creator uses Letters’ writing help or records a voice note, that content is sent to an AI provider to draft, polish or transcribe it.
- To understand how Camena is used, in aggregate, and improve it.
- To tell you about changes to Camena or your account. We won’t send you marketing email without your permission.
Who can see what
In Invites: the host sees everyone’s answers, notes, sign-ups and who claimed which gift. Guests who said yes or maybe see the board, the sign-up lists (with first names on taken spots) and a question’s totals if the host chooses to show them. Guests see which gifts are taken, but not who took them. Other guests never see your email address.
In Letters: a creator sees their own subscribers’ email addresses, statuses and opens and clicks. Subscribers don’t see each other.
Shopping links and commissions
Some gift and idea links are affiliate links: if you buy something after tapping one, Camena may earn a small commission, at no cost to you. A host’s own links stay exactly as the host pasted them.
Emails and unsubscribing
Every email Camena sends about an event or newsletter has an unsubscribe link. In Invites, unsubscribing stops emails about that one event; you can still open the event from its link. A guest can also choose, after answering No, to stop updates about that event. Account emails (like sign-in codes) are sent when you ask for them.
Your choices
You can update your account details in Camena at any time. To get a copy of your information, correct it or delete your account, email privacy@withcamena.com and we’ll help within 30 days. If a host added your name or email to an event and you’d like it removed, you can ask the host or write to us. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information; write to us and we’ll honor them as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open and as long as it’s needed to run Camena. Events and their guest details stay so hosts can look back on them; a host can remove guests or delete an event. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your information within 90 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax or security reasons. Backups roll off on their own schedule.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access rules that keep each person’s data to themselves, optional two-step sign-in, and by giving our own team only the access it needs. No service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.
Children
Camena accounts are for people 13 and older, and anyone under 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Where your information is stored
Camena is run from the United States, and your information may be stored and processed in the United States by us and our service providers.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll tell you in Camena or by email before it takes effect.
