Baby shower countdown checklist

Usually hosted 4 to 8 weeks before the due date. Check every big decision with the parent-to-be.

8 weeks out

Agree on the date, guest list and style with the parent-to-be
Book the venue if it's not at home
Ask where they're registered

6 weeks out

Send the invite with the registry link and an RSVP date two weeks before
Say whether it's a surprise, co-ed, or has a theme

4 weeks out

Plan the menu, a cake or dessert table, and a mocktail
Order decorations, favors and supplies for one or two games

2 weeks out

Confirm the headcount; follow up on RSVPs
Plan the order of the day: arrive, eat, a game, gifts, cake

1 day out

Prep food, set up decorations and a gift table
Assign one friend to write down gifts as they're opened

Day of

Set up a comfy chair for the parent-to-be
Pack the gifts into their car at the end

After

Send the parent-to-be the gift list for their thank-yous
