Party guide
A Baby Shower
Soft colors, sweet little sandwiches, a punch bowl and a comfy chair for the parent-to-be. Keep it to about two to three hours, and check every big decision with them first.
Host tip: Set up a comfortable chair with a side table and a glass of water for the parent-to-be, and keep a running list of gifts for their thank-you notes.
The menu
Drinks and ice
- Raspberry sherbet punch (no alcohol, so the parent-to-be can enjoy it too): recipe
- Pink lemonade fizz (see cocktail cards)
- Sparkling water and coffee
A berry ice ring
Freeze raspberries, blueberries and lemon slices in a bundt pan with water or lemonade. It keeps the punch cold for the whole party and looks like a wreath of fruit.
Make ahead
- 1 week before: Order decorations and favors. Print game cards.
- 2 days before: Bake the cupcakes and freeze unfrosted. Freeze the ice ring.
- 1 day before: Make the pasta salad and chicken salad. Frost the cupcakes. Set up the gift table and a comfy chair.
- Morning of: Make the cucumber sandwiches and cover with a damp towel. Cut the fruit.
- When guests arrive: Sherbet and soda into the punch bowl last, so it stays fizzy.
